Places to visit

Chepelare has interesting places to offer to its visitors. Some of the cultural sites you can visit while in Chepelare are the two famous local churches: St. Atanas Church and St. Virgin Mary Church.

An interesting place to go is the Rozhen Observatory. The observatory is about 15 km away from Chepelare. It is situated on Mechi Chal peak. There is not a regular transport to the peak but a walk to the place will take you about 2 hours. Another option is to hire a taxi or ask the owner of the hotel you are in to organize it for you.

Rozhen observatory is open for tourist visit. The observatory gives you the opportunity to have a look at the venerable Western Rhodope Mountain.
