Skiing in Chepelare

Chepelare is known as a ski town. It has a light ski run for children and beginners in its very town center. Chepelare has very well maintained ski facilities. There are three main ski runs, a 2-chair lift and a few smaller drag lifts. The skiing season starts in December and usually lasts till April depending on the snow cover.

The ski runs are located in Mechi Chal area. Mechi Chal peak is 1873 m above sea level and is easily reached by the 2-chair lift. The runs vary in difficulty from black to green and are some of the longest in Bulgaria. The total length of the runs is 11400 meters.
Mechi Chal 1 is a black level run and is 3150 meters long and 50 meters wide with a total elevation change of 720 meters. It is qualified to be used for international competitions.

Mechi Chal 2 (Turisticheska) is a combination red/green run that is 5250 meters long and 25 meters wide with a total elevation change of 720 meters. It is considered to be the longest ski run in Bulgaria.

The cross country track is 30 kilometers long. It is located at 1282 meters above sea level.
The biathlon track is 5 km long.

The 2-chair lift in Chepelare is 2471 m long with capacity of 600 people per hour. The total duration of the trip with the lift, from the bottom to the top, is 17 minutes. The working hours of the lifts are from 8 a.m. till 4.30 p.m.

The prices for lift passes are as follows: a day lift pass for adults is 18 BGN, for children it is 9 BGN; a 3-day lift pass is 42 BGN for adults and 24 BGN for children; a 6-day lift pass is 80 BGN for adults and 45 BGN for children.

Chepelare ski resort offers to its guests parallel slalom for skiers; ski competitions - Chepelare Cup, Orion Cup and others; ski schools; sledding competitions; outdoor winter carnivals.
